Previously, local town councils would allocate certain funds towards street scaping. Due to budget constraints the councils are no longer in a position to do this entirely. The bottom line is this, if WE want to beautify our streets then WE will have to do this ourselves.
I have been in contact with Brian Geyer of Willow Feather Farm and he is prepared to do a deal for us to supply trees that are suitable for our area. At the beginning of 2015 we started a tree fund and would begin with the major roads first. I believe this will bring a sense of self pride into the area and would definitely help with the value of our land. The plants are in 20 ltr bags and are 2m tall in the ground, so although they are small they are well established. Further more the council, through the Parks division will also be supplying a few trees.
For every block of R 1000 will get us 10 trees. So far we have raised R 6000 and planting has started. Should you wish to contribute in any way even if it is a pledge of R 50 it will all help, please contact us here
